October 1, 2011 | Harris County Sheriff’s Office Police Explorers Program | Houston
On October 1st, 2011 the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) along with the Boy Scouts of America Explorers, held the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Police Explorers program open house for District 3 Post 43. There will be five Explorers posts within the HCSO, one assigned to each patrol district. There was a live demonstration of a felony traffic stop with both HCSO deputies and current Explorers from the Bayport district. HCSO had on display several different units on display along with the K-9 Patrol Officers. Sheriff Garcia was in attendance and announced the members who will head the program.
The program will be open to teenagers and young adults between the ages of 14 (must have completed the 8th grade) and 21 interested in a career in law enforcement. Student participants will get a first-hand look at what it takes to be a law enforcement officer and decide early on whether it is a career they want to pursue. For more information please contact Sgt. Joseph A. Blendermann at (713)697-6304.
